Lux Style Awards 2012: Green Carpet, the Girls

All female celebrities from Mathira and Ayaan to Amina Sheikh wore some very unfortunate things to the Green Carpet, while the male celebrities shone more than ever, ladies took it upon themselves to give us fashion bloggers something to rant about.

All wasn’t bad however, while the celebrities were fashion faux pas, it was non-celebrities like editor Andleeb Rana Farhan, event manager Frieha Altaf who brought the glamour. It was journalists and editors who saved the day and as fashion journalist Aamna Haider Isani tweeted “Fashion journalists are still the best dressed people” and it stood correct more than ever.

Let’s have a look at what everyone wore:

HITS:

Although there were more misses than hits but there were still some looks worthy of praise.

Asma Mumtaz:

Let’s start with one of the few better dressed people from that night.

Wearing a cream coloured HSY gown with bejeweled shoulders, Celebrity stylist Asma Mumtaz looked like a million bucks. Hair and makeup were done to perfection. HSY might not be an expert when it comes to Avant Garde and fashion forwardness but still nobody does old school, conventional glamour like him.

Andleeb Rana Farhan:

Xpoze’ Monthly’s Editor-in-Chief wore a Sadaf Malaterre liquid gold dress with exaggerated sleeves. Every inch of that dress exuded glamour and glitz and was a perfect dress for the evening. Heel-less strappy sandals are a welcome respite from the towering pumps one sees every girl wearing on the red carpet.

Mahira Khan:

Mahira was wearing a light teal full length dress by her best friend Feeha Jamshed, inclusion of heavy necklace wass a very nice touch. Mahira certainly knows her fashion and this whole ensemble might not be the head turner but it has that understated chicness to it that one knows Mahira for and associates with Feeha Jamshed’s brand.

Frieha Altaf:

LSA’s producer and Catwalk Production’s Frieha Altaf was a vision in a very well draped Maheen Karim dress. The dress is immaculately constructed and the texture is divine.

Meera:

In a short dress by Sadaf Malaterre, Meera looked better than ever. Say what you may like about this girl but she always look amazing and her hair and makeup were spot on and she looked glamourous enough without heading into tackyville, wait till you see Mathira and you will know what I am talking about 😀

MISSES:

Mathira:

Mathira topped the worst dressed list, while her Ali Xeeshan dress was nothing short of disaster, her terrible hair and drag queen makeup made it worse. That dress has an interesting print but those tacky butterfly brooches and the shiny effect of print is ruining it. Dress is shapeless and her face is a whole another story.

Whats killing me the most is that Ali Xeeshan is such a talent with some amazing creations to his credit, why o why did they (or she) chose that hideousness?

Ayaan:

Ayaan was the other major casualty of the day, wearing a Deepak Perwani purple mermaid tail gown, she was one sore sight. The dress did no justice to her magnificent  beauty. Hair and makeup were equally bad.

Amina Sheikh:

Amina Sheikh is one of the most beautiful women of this industry and has got an ethereal and seductive persona. She is usually very well dressed, infact her Fahad Hussayn gown at last year’s Lux Style Awards was one of the best of that event but her attire this year left us high and dry. Her gold Maheen Karim dress was all over the place bearing no shape or pattern, proportions were all wrong too. The blouse was interesting but rest of the dress just got too complex for its own good.
