With a top notch lineup and a healthy buzz, Spring/Summer edition of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013 kicked off in Lahore on April 26th. Here’s what went down the runway on Day 1:
‘Tapulicious’ by Tapu Javeri:
Tapu Javeri showed a line of bags, scarfs and prints in his signature pshychedelic ‘Tapulicious’ prints. While the bags (as amazing as they were) were seen before and there was no surprise there as Tapu has shown and exhibited them before as well. Highlight of the collection was the Karachi balcony image printed onto dress forms. Prints were as ususal fun and celebratory but they were a bit underwhelming because of the lack of surprise element.
Sari drapes, laid back flip flops and net overlays; Misha showed a very feminine collection which was effortlessly chic and elegant, an aesthetic that has become Misha’s signature. Collection had a Grecian vibe going on and was very resortwear in spirit. To sum up; it was stellar, effortless and very wearable. Another feather in Misha’s cap.
Huma Adnan looked to east for her ‘East of Bengal’ collection. Stepping away from its high street ethos, Fnk Asia showed a luxury pret collection. Scripted prints, embellished jackets and drpaes in solid colours. It was different than what Fnk Asia has been doing and was both vibrant and wearable.
Elan’ by Khadijah Shah:
Elan brought the house down with her ‘Ode to Nightingale’ collection. It was an ode to beautiful prints, like of which have been never seen before on runway. Every print was exquisite and one of a kind in itself. It was an evening wear collection with so many pieces worthy of red carpet. One can only hope to spot some of these beauties on celebrities on red carpet in coming months.
