For starters, burgundy is the deep red/purplish colour resembling the colour of wine. It was all over the runway during Fall 2012 shows. It made very brief appearances at DKNY, Ralph Lauren, Nina Ricci, Christian Siriano, Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hilfiger shows and was declared as the hottest colour to watch out for during fall season this year by fashion pundits.
In the menswear category, Tommy Hilfiger’s entire collection was filled with shades of wine and burgundy.
His use of colour ranged from full fledged burgundy coloured leather jackets to subtle implications of the colour in trenches and coats. He showed if you are afraid of a colour like that, you can incorporate it in subliminal tones in your outfit to give a midas touch.
Nothing say ‘chic debonair man’ like a burgundy suit. Ryan Gosling turned a lot heads with his Balenciaga tux at Cannes Film Festival. It was such an unconventional look for such a mainstream Hollywood movie star. Entire world has been swooning over his sharp fashion sense ever since.
Robert Pattinson followed Gosling’s lead.

Here’s our very own Omar Farooq, Creative Director of Republic looking very suave in a burgundy tux blazer at LUX Style Awards 2012. Who better than him to show off the trend in Pakistan.
Womenswear:
In womeswear, if coral, mint and tangerine were colours of Spring/Summer than colour of Fall/Winter 2012 is Burgundy.
DKNY took the burgundy to the whole new level and their use of it was absolutely beautiful.
